I needed to take a day to catch my breath from Kendrick's performance & really reflect on how weak everything else was at this year's GRAMMY Awards. I'll spare you my thoughts regarding the full award show (if you really want to know, scroll through my Twitter) -- let's just say I was extremely UNDERwhelmed. In fact, I shoulda taken a note from Ice Cube and got out while the getting was good...
Nonetheless, the stars did align when it came to representing on the red carpet. As usual there were plenty of hits and misses but THAT'S what the Grammy Red Carpet is all about.
Let's get into a few of 'em!
Taylor Swift in Atelier Versace - Color blocking, when done correctly, will never go out of style. Though I'm not a major fan of the hair, T-Swizzle's look was altogether perfect
Diamond White in Joyce Pilarsky - You may not recognize Miss White if you didn't watch The X-Factor a couple years back but this little mama has grown UP! I'm far from a fan of this look but from the neck up ... a winner!
Carrie Underwood - Unlike Diamond, I actually kinda dig Carrie's black rosette gown. She's giving the perfect skin to dress ratio and has accessorized effortlessly; but guys, I borderline HATE the slicked back hair! I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly but ... NO.
Bella Harris in Alice + Olivia with dad, Jimmy Jam - Bella is serving Grecian goddess without skipping one beat or missing a minute detail! Her pops, on the other hand, has been rocking the same look since the 80s but because he's a legend and I SOOOO respect him and all that he's done for the industry, I'll give him a pass. *insert Chrissy Teigen smile*
Ross Mathews in Mr. Turk & Saint Laurent - What a perfect way to reimagine a typical tux. Many guys show up to events like these and attempt to go so "classic" that it's boring. This look comes as no surprise because Mr. Ross is FAR from boring!
Keltie Knight - All I see is Old Hollywood, done to perfection. The color, the embellishments, the hair, the accessories -- I have no clue who this girl is but she's stunning!
Bonnie McKee in Jim Tanner Designs - I want to like this so bad because the suit color is everything. However, if we were to play a word association game with this look, the only word I could come up with is Jem & the Holograms! No shade but... nevermind!
Giuliana Rancic in Jani & Khosla - I think I really love playing word association games because her look is the perfect mesh between the "Remember the Time" video and "The Great Gatsby".
All jokes aside, I think she looked great in this mirrored gown. The gold paired perfectly with her warm skintone and her choice of makeup and hair was spot on as well!
Liz Hernandez - I'm not sure who this dress is by but she looked amazing; showing the perfect amount of skin -- allowing it to be the accessory! The top knot was a perfect choice as well.
Manika in ARThur Christine - Nope, Nope, Nope -- Cirque Du Soleil is in Vegas, not at the Staples Center!
Elle King in Christian Siriano - I want to word associate again but this time it might be borderline shady so I'll digress and just say NO! Christian Siriano has so many amazing gowns but this one AIN'T IT!
Vanessa Simmons - This chick is one haute mama -- head-to-toe fab! She kept things simple, allowing the dress to be the show stopper. Does she not look absolutely stunning in yellow?!
DJ Khaled - Mr. Major Key himself did pretty good in his houndstooth tux juxtaposing his look with a dope pair of kicks. Not to shabby!
Ashley Monroe in Georges Hobeika -This is a perfect example of 'she's almost there'! I think she had the makings of a really great red carpet moment but something was missing. Whether it was color on the lip, a slim yet chic accented belt -- SOMETHING here fell flat!
Skylar Grey - In some weird way, I really like this look! I'm a little bit over the whole sheer thing but she looks rather amazing. Perhaps she could have gone with something different in the hair department but nonetheless, not bad at all!
Tori Kelly - This color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This hair!!!!!!!!!!!! This dress!!!!!!!!!!!!! If she isn't on anyone's best dressed list, she sure is on mine!
There were so many more looks I loved but I'm saving them for a future post you're sure to love.
